How does it work?

The Egg Donation Process: A step-by-step guide to the egg donation procedure. It takes an average of 2-4 months from the time you are chosen to make your first donation. It takes roughly 1-2 months to finish further donations.

Step 1: Matching

Egg Donor Europe will contact you to begin the procedure once we choose you to contribute.

Step 2: Screening

To ensure that you are eligible to donate, you will undergo a series of tests, including blood work, genetic screening and counselling, psychiatric assessment, and evaluation. Following the completion of this testing, you will begin taking medication to begin the process of prepping your ovaries for donation.

Step 3: Stimulation & Monitoring

You’ll have an office appointment, which will include an ultrasound and blood testing, to ensure that you’re ready to start 2 weeks of hormone medicine. If your ovaries appear to be ready, you will begin injecting subcutaneous (a short needle used to inject medication directly under the skin) stimulation medications to help you mature more than one egg. Every month, you lose hundreds of eggs, and by augmenting your usual monthly hormones, we can save a tiny percentage of them. You’ll have a few more doctor appointments to track your ovarian response to the drugs.

Step 4: Eggs Retrieval

You will be scheduled for egg retrieval after around 10-13 days of monitoring and stimulation medicines. Your ovarian reaction to the drugs will determine the day and time of egg retrieval. Also, you will be put under “twilight sedation” for the egg retrieval procedure. Extract the eggs vaginally with the use of ultrasonography. You will not feel any discomfort and will have no recollection of the surgery due to the sedation. You should take the day of egg retrieval off from work or school to rest and relax.

Step 5: Following the Retrieval

You’ll probably experience cramping, exhaustion, and bloating comparable to when you’re on your period. Over-the-counter drugs are commonly used to treat this. Within a day or two of egg retrieval, most donors are back to work and routine activities.

Step 6: Reimbursement

Once the surgery is over, you will be reimbursed for your contribution on the day of retrieval.
